Haters gon' hate?

I wonder how people manage to write almost everything about what they hate. I know blogging is supposed to be personal, and expresses ones thoughts and opinions and that the rest shouldn't matter - something I've been standing up for these past few days.

I began to question the boundaries of blogging as I randomly blog-hopped, one blog after the other when one personal webspace caught my attention. I was sort of willing to let that one blog entry about how this person hates cats and said a lot of mean things about this particular feline specie but when I thought of giving the benefit of the doubt by reading more, I realized that this blog's theme was not just "ripping off" but it was also "hate".

Again, everyone is entitled to express their opinions on the intarwebs, but you know what I realized? As soon as you bad mouth something, anything - you are subject to judgment. Perhaps because 'you started it'? Does that make sense to you?

Personally, I don't like it when people say mean things online, but that's just me. I mean, I don't control the way they think - and hating them won't change anything either. I guess its because I think that anything you put out there could change the way people think, and see things : which is why blogging is supposed to be done responsibly.

But that also means following rules, leaving you not much freedom to express yourself.

You see? I'm torn. So what am I trying to say here? Let the haters hate? Let them blog about how much they hate my wife, Vanessa Hudgens? Let them say how much they wished cats were thrown off the bridge instead of those poor puppies by that devil in "I'm an adorable little girl" clothing?

Should this mean we're only free to blog about the good stuff? Or maybe... its just one of those rules :

If you've nothing good to say, STFU.

Oh, there you go. I've made my point now. Its not just a blogging rule. Its like, a rule in Life. So what if couples like to post cheesy notes in each others' Facebook walls? And say how awesome their partners are? IT IS SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF. People aren't hurting you by being cheesy. Unless the guy's actually your boyfriend and you found out he's been cheating on you, then yes - we certainly have a problem there. But other than that you're good, cherry pie (not you, Cherry Pie Picache! But yes, you're looking good too! You're one of those actresses who don't seem to age).

Isn't life too short to hate? But hey I should practice what I preach, right? But I can't help hate the haters. But I should.

I guess "Hate" has a lot of sub-categories. Like maybe how you hate the Delivery Service of this Fast food chain. How you hate Justin Bieber because, well just 'cause (although I don't see anything wrong, he's adorable and he's talented). Or how you hate the color red. I dunno. Random stuff. But I guess there's always supposed to be sensible reason behind it.

Hating won't get you anywhere, and it certainly doesn't make you cool. Hating is not cool. Especially when done in public. Na-uh. Not cool.

There is one really cool poem about hate though. Imagine me reading it to you with passion /clears throat/ :
"I hate the way you talk to me. And the way you cut your hair. I hate the way you drive my car. I hate it when you stare.I hate your big dumb combat boots. And the way you read my mind. I hate you so much it makes me sick - it even makes me rhyme. I hate the way you're always right. I hate it when you lie. I hate it when you make me laugh - even worse when you make me cry. I hate it that you're not around. And the fact that you didn't call. But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you - not even close, not even a little bit, not any at all."
/tear/ Right? So sweet.

ANYWAY. Should even this one, go down to having respect? Should I respect a person who hates cats for no reason? No traumatizing story behind it, like how a cat almost chewed his/her arm off, leading to "I HATE CATS FOREVER! DIE KITTY, DIEEEEEEE"? I love all kinds of animals. Heck I even feel bad after killing cockroaches, and I'm not exaggerating at all. God knows I'm being very honest about how I feel about roaches. I don't like them, but I don't hate them enough to kill them. Its not like they know that their existence in one's home is bad. I should seriously do a separate entry on cockroaches.

But then I guess... Let the haters hate. One thing's for sure though : I'm never going to read that blog again. Its gonna save me from so much stress. Also, in my head, my vision of how adorable kitties are will never be tarnished by awful and mean things said about them.

P.S. I also realized that 'delivery' is very important. I have friends who write entries about how they 'hate' something that I actually love, and for some reason I don't find it in myself to feel disgusted and end up retaining the same level of respect for them and their opinions. Because really, their opinions don't really harm me in any way, but then again I'll end up stating the same opinions as I've mentioned so...Goodness, have I made any sense today?

P.P.S. Perhaps its also because this person's really known as a rip-off. Trust me, you'd know when someone's ripping off your stuff.

P.P.P.S. I just sounded like a hater, didn't I?

  1. That was pretty enlightening/insightful. I have the same opinions as you and I have blogged/ranted about it endlessly on my blog e.g. http://thunderpopcola.tumblr.com/post/1025603312 but it seems that people don't really stop.

What I've learned from my one year +months of blogging is that we really can never please everyone and we may be misinterpreted for our ideas/thoughts even though our intentions are good. Also, we can keep talking about this but they will never stop, because they'd rather just spread hate and all that negative crap than be better people and just keep their opinions to themselves.

But at least we know better, right? And we live so much more productive lives than them :)

P.S. Tee-hee, you are really lovely and by lovely I mean pretty and you have wonderful insights on things. <3

  2. it's amazing how haters created a past time out of dissing and hating all the things they can think of in life. My mom always said if you can't say anything nice..don't say anything. But i guess some people just don't understand that. :|

you know sometimes i think that hating is just coz you want to be different from everybody else..its like everybody is into this like lets say certain song, i feel like hating is is like going against the flow or something...making themselves feel special or different whatever but that's lame...its people's insecurities that factors in..i might have to explain that further but right now..i'm logging off..im at work hehe...and i need to go home now..cheers!
