Pretty Paley Pales and a Dose of Daily Awesomeness

I expected these jeans to even be more baggy on me but to my surprise, it fits quite well until my thighs! I got this in size 26 (I'm 25), so I know to be able to feel powerful in all of my jeans threatening to look like they belong to Bruce Banner, I have to keep trying my best to gain weight (apparently I feel sexiest when my work-out is jumping around my room to get into my pants...wait that doesn't sound right).

When I withdrew munniez from the machine a few days ago, my eyes reflected the milky way and Andrew knew exactly what that meant. Those fun overtime/s, totally paid off. Yes, literally and figuratively. The first thing that came out of his mouth, with his signature smirkygrin, was "So...when are you going shopping?" Ha.

The next day, I went to Topshop. So much for the entry that's still saved as one of my drafts about saving and saying "NO". Goodness.

So today, this is what I wore to work :

(White V-Neck Tee: Flea Market / Military Inspired Jacket : Thrifted /
Floral Printed Jeans: Topshop / Layered Pearlies : Forever21 / Orange Slip-Ons: Bally)

So they don't really look the way it does on my Retail Therapy's avatar, but we'll get there.

Of course, taken via Photobooth. I was feeling a bit better in the morning compared to yesterday, my throat's feeling kind of rough, but I'm a good girl now, drinking my vitamins. I was fighting fever since the other night, thankfully I was able to work my "MIND OVER MATTER" skillz and prayed a lot as well, even repeatedly chanting "I am not sick, I am not sick, I am not sick".

I think I was also under a lot of stress from thinking of all the house work I put on hold. So yesterday, because it was too cold in the office and I felt like my fever was getting worse - I asked permission from my Boss if I could get off work an hour earlier and he let me, I asked the Driver to stop at the next Pharmacy, where I met the kindest man behind the counter, giving me a couple of riyals off my vitamins. Don't you love it when Strangers make your day? A simple, sincere smile from a little girl or an elderly man sometimes make my day. Back in the Philippines, convos with cabbie drivers and middle-aged women who Andrew or I would help get in the jeep because they've got too much stuff to carry are things I would always cherish. I love it when I have encounters with beautiful strangers. Its like God's way of telling us that He lives in them too. I don't know, it just makes me feel at peace, that goodness, and kindness, and all those things we thought to be long gone still exist in the world.

I got home and rested for a bit before I started sorting the laundry, cleaning my room, sadly killing a few roaches here and there (boy, do we need to get pest control in our flat), cooked rice, then after dinner, putting Letters to Juliet on pause, we cleaned the bathroom (one of the most fulfilling things to do with your husband, for real), finished the laundry, vacuumed the entire house, and then I fell asleep watching Thunder in Paradise 1 in the middle of fixing my clothes (I bet you didn't know I was a huge Hulk Hogan fan, and that my Papa Loy and I have this thing of watching Wrestling Matches together as soon as he gets home from work, and yes, I would tape the matches for him and would gladly wiggle my buns, making my way to comfortably sit next to him only to find him drifting off after 5 minutes), woke up because Andrew was playing the guitar and teased him on his singing, brushed my teeth, played Crazy/Beautiful, then fell asleep.

I woke up with a rough feeling in my throat, battling myself with not wanting to go to work but I remember how my Mom would deal with this : she gets out of bed and prays. I did the same and guess what, it works.

Life is amazing.

Comic Relief

Literally.

You know how I said I've always wanted to be Hulk, and then later found out that he had a cousin, who, because Bruce donated his blood to her after she got beaten up, ended up with the same radioactive blood he had, and once that combines with anger... well it isn't pretty. But she's hot, but yeah... it isn't pretty. But srsly she's hot.

So Andrew knows, like the occasional rage black-outs I end up having once in a while, which I really really really try to fight. But you know what they say, you can't fight the moonlight.

What.

So after shooting feelingerang fashion photos one night, he wanted me to pose as She-Hulk. And you know what happened next.

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to express your anger like the Hulks? Maybe Hulk Hogan included?

Featured Fashionista : Martine

Before LookBook and Chictopia came, there were bloggers who loved to post photos of what they wore to the party the other night or their latest purchases, among other awesome things. Girls would most likely end up enchanted by their photos, the confidence that they exude, and just how easy it all seemed. Suddenly, you can't stop visiting their blogs, patiently (okay more like impatiently) waiting for their next post. Although I have been a Fashion Blogger myself even before I discovered her (and thank God I did), it still didn't stop me from feeling so inspired and motivated to be just like the person that she is.

To be just like Martine.

It was in 2007 when I first stumbled upon her blog, and I fell in love with her since. She's one of the few girls who can dress up however she wants to, and that signature "oomph" just doesn't change. Martine's personality, among her confidence and style stands out. And that's what gets you. And that's what we all should have. Because I swear, make her wear a black garbage bag, and she would rock it. That's what makes Martine special. She knows who she is and sticks to that.

And what I also loved about her blog, was that it just wasn't all about fashion. She would share heartwarming photos of her dogs, her family, gives awesome tips on make-up application, and more importantly : life. Awesome girls like her, do have those days - so combining all that, how can you not love her? She's all that, and she's REAL.

I honestly am very blessed and psyched that she agreed to be featured in my blog, and I sort of hate myself for bothering her so much but I can't help it. I adore her.

1.) Place of Birth
Makati, Philippines

2.) What are your inspirations (fashion-wise?)
Movies, photography, magazines, etc. -- anything visual!

3.) Do you usually plan what to wear, or do you dress spontaneously?
Spontaneously, definitely. Every time I've tried to choose an outfit the night before, I end up wearing something completely out of left field in the morning.

4.) Your other interests aside from Fashion?
Horror movies, The universe, Cute/ Funny animal videos on youtube, New restaurants!

5.) Who / What influenced you most with your love for Fashion?
I come from a very artistic immediate and extended family, so it was very natural for me to appreciate fashion.

Martine's a model for AA

6.) What was one insecurity you always had about yourself, and what did you do to overcome it?
My smile. My teeth have always been a bit too large. Apparently, it's a trend right now to have a slightly imperfect smile. Funny how that came about.

7.) What's one item that every girl must have in their closets?
A comfy pair of go-to platforms.

8.) Other people find it so hard to express themselves through Fashion, what advise would you give to encourage them if they want their mood/personality speak through their clothes?
Not to think so hard. Dressing yourself shouldn't be stressful. It should be an organic and natural process. Wear whatever you feel like wearing. That's all I can say.

My Cousin is Awesome and You'll see for Yourself

Remember that entry I did on my cousins? Well, guess what - SARAH IS ON BLOGSPOT! And since I keep telling you how brilliant she is, I'm so proud that you'd get to see that for yourself.

Sarah, who we fondly call Gee, and I, "Pinnys" - was part of the London Fashion Week because she was an intern for designer Alice Palmer. Now how awesome is that. She was even backstage with John Galliano. Yes, John Galliano. FREAKIN' JOHN GALLIANO!

She's currently taking up Fashion in Kingston University in London, and if you've read that entry I did of her (and my other cousin, Dannah), you'd see just how much potential she has. I seriously am so proud and so blessed that I belong to such an amazing family with all my talented Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.

Visit her blog and see more awesomeness!

P.S. Pinnys, once you release your own line, don't forget - I'm your muse! Woot!

Facebook Fun

Screencaps are awesome. Ha! So, its been awhile since I've done this. Because its also been awhile since my friends, Andrew and I pulled off something to be near the vicinity of hilarious.

See Exhibit A :

Took place on the 20th of September, 2010. I posted a video of my current favorite artist, "I Blame Coco" (will post Tunage-labeled entries soon, been awhile since I did that too), tagging Andrew, Lance and Jaybs - Andrew wasn't online anymore so I'm sure he hasn't seen this yet, but look at how the conversation lead to something else.

Like I said in an old blog entry, "My friends are perverts. We all get along just fine." So awesome. Hahaha!

Exhibit B :

This one was supposedly yesterday's post but I was too sleepy even if I was so motivated to publish entries here like it was my Tumblr page.

Andrew and I are so random. Srsly, you have no idea how random we are. We're like the forefathers of Random. The great, great, great, great forefathers of Randomness. We like, totally rule being Random. I think both our middle names are Random. You know? Random! Too random!

You know? Like... yeah okay.

We did have Fish for lunch, and it was good. Why is it that the men in my flat (my Dad and Husband) cook better than me? Seriously.

Oh you bet there's more to come.

If there was a dress made just for Me

This would be it.
(Jeremy Scott / SS11)

Boy, I'm itching to make my Runway Review Already! But there are so many things I want to blog about, I don't even know where to begin. Srsly, I wished my laptop and my brain were wirelessly connected. In that way I can blog about anything in my head even while I'm in the bath!

Like this morning, while I was on the bidet (overshare, sorry), I thought about "Space Cowboys" and wondered if Hawk Hawkins' body would decompose in the same manner on the moon, as it would if it were on Planet Earth - he has a Space Suit on so I'm not sure if that's gonna affect the decomposition a LOT.

You know?

Christine and Camille Luang's Inspiration Saturday

I feel honored to be in line with girls like Rumi Neely and Tin Iglesias in this feature. Its so overwhelming that these two awesome girls would consider me as an inspiration when they've inspired me to keep on blogging about Fashion because I had zero motivation. I guess I wasn't able to tell them that yet because I was shy (jeez). Shouldn't have waited until they gave me this opportunity or else it would sound like I'm just bumbum kissing, but really - you have to read their blog. They have such good taste and they've killer photos!

I edited this screencap, btw - but view the whole entry here!
Thank you Christine, Camille! You girls are awesome!

I just feel even more passionate to keep doing what I want to do, what I feel like doing because there are awesome girls out there, like my friend Elaine who featured me in Chalk (grab the September issue!) like Gen, like Christine and Camille who acknowledged their appreciation in what I do and what I'm passionate about, and who I really am, and believe me - with the many things I have gone through this year, this just means so much to me that it makes me want to cry. And I am not joking. So thank you, really. Thank you.

P.S. Super thanks to my dearest Aves who gave me a heads-up. I usually visit these girls' blogs but I was super busy working today and blogging and slacking all at the same time (just another typical day in the life of Abbie) but you must link these girls, they're amazing!

Psyched

My Cousin Gee just spoke to me via Y!M and told me that she was off to Fashion Week (she's interning for one of the designers in London and she's sort of one of the people in-charge of the show, which is awesome, I'm so proud of her. Pinnys, if you're reading this - I'm so proud of you! I can't wait to see your blog giving us all the juicy details!)

Anyway, I'm going to be doing a report on London Fashion Week, the last time I did a Runway Report was in 2007, would you believe? Ha! If you want to see it, click here.

Here are the things that gets me so psyched about London's Fashion Week :

Bambi Northwood-Blythe is the lead model for Topshop Unique. Why. So. Awesome.
I love you, woman.

THE HAIR AT CRAIG LAWRENCE!!!! .... THE HAIR! DARN IT! After I saw this photo I practiced it on myself! I'll do a shoot with this hair soon. GAH, so amazing. I'm so inspired!

THE FREAKIN' SHOES AT TOPSHOP UNIQUE. WHAT. WHY?? I JIZZED!
I love the pair on the right!

I just noticed that I would actually pay attention to other details first before my eyes land on the clothes. Ha!

I think I'm loving the stuff designers are coming up with and re-creating for S/S 11. I don't know, but before I wouldn't even bother checking out each outfit, but I swear, this generation's designers are amazing. I mean, not to put the legends like Karl Lagerfeld or Diane Von Furstenberg or John Galliano aside, but wow.

A Typical Wishlist, And Then Some

Well, its September, isn't it? But meh, who am I kidding. I mean I'd still want these things even if Santa doesn't start blog-hopping and stuff. So, here are a few things I've been lusting on, some for ages, some recently. Posting them in random order. God knows some of the things on this list I'll be getting within the year. But my priority is to pay my debts! Finally.finish.paying.my.debts. And then I'm free! (I still owe my brother too, thank God he loves me too much to let me start by next year. In case you were wondering, its this baby from heaven that I have to pay for - yes, my Macbook Pro, which I, as you know, named Proenza, after Proenza Schouler, which makes me really proud cos the S/S11 collection is too gorgeous for words! Have you seen?) Which reminds me, now the Macbook Pro is off my wishlist! I didn't realize that! Ha!

Anyway.

Bacon Strip Bandages, because I am addicted to Bacon. And bandages. This looks too gross, and awesome which is why I think its perfect for me. Not because I'm gross and awesome, but yeah. It is perfect for me. Ha! Thank you Helga for sharing the wonderful world of Accoutrements with us. I love you, Wifey.
Absinthe Bath Soap, because I love Eurotrip and who knows, I might end up seeing green fairies while I'm in the bath. It would be nice if I had other people to talk to while taking a shower right? Like, other girls too! ... Doesn't sound right.

The Alexa Mulberry Satchel, because I love Alexa Chung and Leopard printed anything. Mind you, my bedroom walls are covered in Leopard Printed Wallpaper. I do have a thing for satchels, I've noticed. And bags. I love bags. I have a box of bags back in the condo which Papa marked with "ABBIE'S BAGS (sosyal na sosyal)" Ha!

Again, the Chanel Jumbo Flap, because this will never be off my list until I have this baby in my arms. Preferably with gold details.

The Herm├Ęs Birkin, because its really growing on me. I love all the other colors but if I want to invest on one, I'd go for black so I could pass it on to my Daughter. No matter how grungy I naturally am, its always the classy stuff that pwns.

Luis Steven Backpack in Tan, because it looked so awesome on Rachel Bilson and I would love to carry my laptop around with style. This is gorgeous.

Beats Solo by Dr. Dre, this one customized by Colorware. I'd rather go for the Solo than the Studio because its an easier traveling companion.

A Polaroid Instant Camera. For reasons I don't even need to state because polaroids will always and forever be awesome.

A Darth Vader Lightsaber, collector's item edition please. Everybody loves Luke, or Han Solo, but how can you not love Darth Vader? I mean, he was portrayed by Hayden Christensen! On the last first three installments (?) ... Okay but that's not why I love Darth Vader. What I love most 'about' him is "The Imperial March". I planned on setting it as someone's ring tone alert a year ago. Ha!

A Storm Trooper Mask and Statue, because, well...just because.

Furniture from Heima and other cool stuff from Cubao X, which I will be raiding in the near future.

Spirit Hood Leopard Hat, for same reasons stated for the Alexa Satchel, also because I love love love hats, except this one's not inspired by Alexa Chung, but hopefully me (LOLJK), but this I love. Thanks to Lance for telling me about them.

This Crosley Turntable, because records are awesome, and nothing will ever beat the classics. Plus I like how it looks vintage, but its very high-tech.

A Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee Book, because I have so much interest in the Native American Culture and Traditions (as I mentioned in my previous blog entry), and I read that this is one of the best books written on the natives.

Tons of Striped Chips Ahoy boxes, whatever happened to them? I remember looking forward to Sundays because that's when Mama and I would go grocery shopping and she'd always get me two packs of these and they only last for a day - she tried her best to control me but...

Nestle Crunch, because it reminds me so much of my childhood, when Mama would take me to Greenbelt and I was like, 4 - and there's this pretty quaint chocolate store right outside Greenbelt 1 where Mama would buy me a couple of these and the lady cashier would always give me freebies.

Trish McEvoy Lash Enhancer, which I've read does wonders not just on lashes, but brows as well!

Topshop Make-Up and Nail Lacquer, because I've got to have Topshop everything, and this is the only line I lack from Toppys. Plus, the colors are lush lush lush!

Too Faced Envy Brow Kit, which I will be getting next month. I called Sephora and they have it in stock. Yowza.

MAC Brow Set in Beguile, which I am currently using but sinisimot ko nalang, I had the Brow Liner too, which I also have to get because that was the first one that I finished.

MAC Brow Brush # 266 as suggested by my friend, Care. She claims its her favorite brush and with the way she described it to me, I feel like it will be mine as well.

More Kate Moss for Topshop goodies, because the thought of this collaboration still makes me jizz in my pants.

Benefit's Bene Tint because one bottle lasts forever, which makes it really worth it! I have the Posie Tint, too but this one I use mostly because it leaves such a pretty stain on my lips, I can't stop applying it!

This KTZ Biker Dress by Topshop's Emerge Line which haunted me last night. I've got to have this. WHY, Topshop. WHY.

KTZ Quilted Dress by Topshop's Emerge Line. See how gorgeous! And the genius idea of combining quilted leather and rhinestones. OMG I DIE. BTW, Topshop's Emerge are all designs by up and coming designers, you will drool at the brilliance.

Oh you know I'm adding more later.

Bowie Soup

So this was another purchase from Life two weeks ago. Its a David Bowie Two-Toned Tee from House of the Gods. I was eyeing on that Ground Zero Teddy Dollar Shirtdress, but I am so sure that Andrew would kill me if I went beyond my shopping limit.

Sadly, the Jeremy Scott goodies are way beyond my budget. I could grab one but it would've been my only purchase. I was lucky to have remembered Wildfox on my way out of the store, I was able to grab one of their signature shirts (that I am absolutely in love with).

All photos by Andrew Bautista
Post-processing by Me

I guess I haven't outgrown my Scene phase yet, in a way.
