This Ain't No Lame Excuse

But I've been really busy this week. I'll also be busy in the coming week. God's been calling me to His pulpit a lot, and I thank Him for that. Two days ago I was the Bible Reader, and tonight I'll be doing an exhortation for the Prayer Meeting. There's also the Praise and Worship Night, there's the special number for our friend's Ministry and then our 5th Anniversary.

There's also a ton of paperwork I'm left to do and I can't sleep at night thinking about the pile of papers hidden in my cabinets!

And then there's housework that I barely get to. There's a mountain of clothes needed to be ironed and I've just cleaned the bathroom barely two weeks ago and now its a mess. My laundry isn't done yet.

I wish I was making this up. I can't bring myself to write about things I want to and proceed with featuring people I want to with all this in mind.

I don't want to complain that God has blessed me to be mightily used in His house, and I don't want to complain that He's blessing me with a job I'm very happy with, and that He's given me such a beautiful family to take care of (which I fail to do since my Dad and Husband does the cooking, mostly. Sometimes even the laundry).

I just want to be able to be productive in my life out of the intarwebs because at the moment its what counts the most. I don't want to go back to the way I used to, taking all that for granted. As much as I love to blog, I've got to prioritize things right.

But DO NOT FRET!! Of course if there's something worthy to write about, I will! Just don't expect anything fun to read atm. It might take a little while.

But I do pray that everyone's having a blast! I'm so sorry for delaying some of my features. I hate myself for it, honestly.

Smell ya later?

He went to bed and Bumped his head

*late post, as usual.

Yesterday was awesome. It also sucked for so many people. I've no photos of the rain, the flood, how half of the van we rode home was submerged in the water.

It was funny though because my bestfriend and I managed to each get two lipsticks from MAC's Mickey Contractor collection for ten minutes before heading home. I'm actually wearing them in this picture (Mehr, Yash and Pink Plaid combined, but I only got Mehr and Yash yesterday).

I was supposed to work on a number of things but Hypnos or probably Morpheus, whoever was in charge yesterday, got to me. I slept for 3 hours before getting up at 7:00 P.M. which was great because I had enough time to work on my Bible Exhortations for Friday and Sunday.

I knew that the flood was really bad but I didn't think that it was that bad. Saw videos later that evening and I prayed for those who were affected. Can't help but remember when Ondoy struck the Philippines.

In spite of the things happening around me - my Uncle's Mercedes Benz ended up completely submerged underwater (and that car means a lot to me too, because he had it for 20 years now and there are so many memories attached to it), most of my loved ones having to walk home from their offices, my husband included - I am still rejoicing because God has protected them and they weren't harmed in any way.

Speaking of which, my friends and I were recently called by God to carry out a very important task. So pray for us.

Heading home in a bit. Its a weekend in the Middle East so I guess its proper for me to wish everyone a happy weekend!

God Bless you guys.

François Truffaut once said, "Film Lovers are Sick People".

Maybe we are. But who doesn't love watching films and movies? Light, Dragging, gas-filling, tear inducing, all that.

Here are the movies that made my 2010, both old and new.

Yes, I saw this more than once. The music is awesome, both girls delivered, its a movie about passion, following your dreams, making mistakes, and picking up the pieces. Rockstar, Frustrated Rockstar, either one can relate because we all go through that part of life. There's a little rebel in you that messes up but you rise above the chaos and start all over again. What matters is you end up doing what you're meant to do. Whether it was what you've been doing all along, or something else. There's always hope, whatever situation we're in and will face.

This one's hilarious. Koreans definitely know how to put two genres in one movie without overpowering each other. Definitely tear inducing, both happy and sad.

Of course you'd know that any Tim Burton adaptation is worth seeing, and this definitely did not let me down. It was everything beyond my imagination. And with Johnny Depp's awesome presence, we have no right to question it whatsoever.

Having read the book, you could say that I was one of the millions that was saddened (but what's new) with the parts they had to alter or completely edit out of the movie. But yes, after 6 installments, I was still excited to see this. Can't wait for the second part!

Don't tell me that you didn't wish you founded Facebook yourself after seeing this. It was pretty inspiring too, considering that anyone really is capable of fulfilling their dreams and passions. It just really takes a lot of effort to pull off. But in the end, its hella worth the shot. Also, geeks rule.

If you know me well enough, then you'd know Lying is my kind of film for all the obvious reasons.

Found out about this through my awesome wifey Chui. I think its still the most awesome, real, weird film I've seen to date. Have you ever seen a weird film and felt like you could relate? This has got to be it for me. I sometimes live in a Parallel Universe and I sure have a few weird ideas I'd like to carry out and fulfill someday, which isn't entirely the point of movie, but just saying...

Its a film by Scorsese starring Leonardo Di Caprio. WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT (ME TO SAY).

How can you not be interested with seeing the beauty and travesty behind Coco Chanel's success? Of course Audrey Tautou did a great job playing the rock of one of fashion's (need not to say) timeless institutions.

Yes, I was scarred for life. I wonder how one can hate Robert Pattinson so much just because he's playing Edward Cullen when he's such a brilliant actor.

Shinji told me to download the movie Palindromes which shows how Dawn Wiener ended up living her life. And from what I remember, it (the movie) begins tragically.

Meet Brendan, your modern-day Dick Tracy, in this action / mystery / thriller-packed flick. You totally feel like you were behind him the entire time he dug deeper into finding out the killer behind his ex-girlfriend's death. It definitely kept me on my toes the entire time, and the ending was a shocker. And then there's Joe of course. Joe, oh Joe. Marry me, Joe. It was so hard to concentrate with that pretty face on screen. He is such a versatile actor!

I didn't think Jonah Hill could pull off something like this. His character sort of scared me, actually. Like he was capable of being real dangerous. There's sort of a dark twist to his role but then at the end you realize that its somehow a "normal" reaction to the particular situation he's in.

A Gus Van Sant movie inspired (and sort of based on) by the tragic Combine High School shooting in 1999. The lack of dialogue throughout the film makes it such an interesting watch for me, apart from the fact that it builds more tension, it also makes you try to stay more focused, it forces you to feel whatever the characters are feeling in the film. Its awesome.

This is probably one of the most frustrating films I've ever seen. Also, its very reflective of how we live our lives, like taking certain things for granted, wishing for something greater - there's always a gain or loss in that. Is the risk worth it? Yes. Is there a point to all that, trying to reach for something greater? Maybe.

Mama would've loved to see this. I for one, have a thing for movies that are based on true events (take Zodiac and Changeling for example), that sort of scar you for life. After seeing this, I immediately looked up the Dursts and was haunted by the unknown. Yes, I'm a sucker for unsolved mysteries. Dark, creepy films appeal to me the most. Also, Kirsten Dunst was jaw-dropping good, and Ryan Gosling definitely brought out a side of him that makes your knees weaken, but in a really bad way.

I have gay friends and have never questioned how they wanted to live their lives, and I wasn't really curious of how same gender relationships work out because its apparent enough that it came to exist in the first place because of love (duh), and it is between two people, two human beings so it isn't supposed to be a big deal, but this made me see how its like from the perspective of two women who decided to live together and have biological children through the same sperm donor. Its a modern take on typical family oriented flicks (and how they deal with issues, which is - surprise, almost like any other family /duh) and I loved every single bit.

I consider this awesome because I love Russell Brand even if he was sort of a douche to Robert Pattinson on 2008's VMAs. Rose Byrne is too gorgeous for words. Jonah Hill is forever hilarious and I love how game Diddy was in this. STROKE A FURRY WALL!

I've loved Emma Stone since House Bunny! There's something about Emma that draws you to her. Its her unconventional traits on-screen I guess. That could be just one of the many.

One of the most messed up characters you'd end up having a love/hate relationship with. You sympathize with her, at the same time you want to tie her to a chair. Loved the cinematography and editing in this one.

You know how when you were a child, you'd go to other places where you have unicorn friends and everyone's all cute and fuzzy? This is like ten times more awesome. I wish I had the same visions as a child. Call me a loser - I've yet to read the book. Yeah I know its much better. I can't judge yet if the movie adaptation did it any justice, because you know...there's always a possibility that it could.

Oh dear Sofia Coppola, did I love this. Again, the cinematography and the dead scenes were an amazing ingredient to the film. I don't know what it is about me and barely scripted films but I loved this. There's just a certain raw factor to it that I adore (which is obviously her signature style). It definitely challenges the actors to show their characters' emotions through body language which isn't easy at all given that the lines should help them deliver it. It has to come from within. You look at them and you know how they feel (its exactly what I loved in Marie Antoinette), it makes you connect with them more, like you're right there.

Yeah, what Summer said. That we're never wrong about love, we're just wrong about people we end up falling for, but it can't be all on us. Every person who comes in our lives definitely becomes part of it for a reason. Some stay, some go, but we all get something out of it. A love lost? Look at it this way : it taught you something about yourself. It made you see your capabilities. It made you But yes I did end up hating Summer (I love you forever, Zooey Deschanel).

Right. Like I even needed to write something below this. The picture itself on this list is enough! UGH HOW DARE YOU QUESTION ME!...What.

My top favorite movie(s) for 2010 is a tie between Scott Pilgrim vs. The World - which I have made obvious through my Formspring's background image and the cosplay my husband and I did of Envy and Todd. I love the comic books. I love the movie. I love the soundtrack, and I want to play the game on PSP! I love Scott Pilgrim! I love Scott Pilgrim! (And don't you dare ask me "Why" because I will headbutt you so hard that you burst), and...

Well if it wasn't obvious enough with my tweets (and current Twitter background) just how stoked I was to see Black Swan, I remember blogging about it and posting the trailer here late last year. There are not enough words to describe my fascination with this movie and how much it haunted (and scarred) me. My cousin used to tell me that a doppelgänger is her biggest fear, and I never really thought of it that way, but this changed everything because its portrayed in a much darker sense, its a cross between having one and a split-personality which tries to dominate you.

The cinematography was...goodness I can't even describe it. Like the movies I've went bonkers over, all the elements of the film just helped make it become the masterpiece that it is. A definite jaw-dropper, its one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life. Props to Darren Aronofsky. I've had The Wrestler in my HD for years now but have not seen it yet. This definitely made me a fan of his. I wanna see his other babies pronto.

It had just the right amount of thriller in every scene that keeps you on the edge. You're half-way through the movie, you can't wait to see what happens next, but at the same time you want it to stop because its getting all too dark and confusing.

I've heard that one of the things that makes a film so great is how, after seeing it countless of times, watching it always feels like the first.

And that's how I feel about Black Swan. Its how I feel about Marie Antoinette. Its how I feel about Scott Pilgrim.

I wonder what topped your list for 2010.

*I may add more movies to this list tomorrow because I'm sure I forgot to add them to the li - yup! I just remembered a few. And I've never denied the fact that I am a Twilight Saga fan which is why I'll have to include Eclipse!

Bathing in Clothes, my Alaskan Spirit soaked

Although I'm not so sure how that's gonna help me fight the water's temperature, when everyday it feels like I take a dip -

(photo via)

Today, its 22 °C outside. Shouldn't really matter, in fact we're supposed to be grateful for this weather. However I CAN'T REALLY FEEL THAT WAY WHEN ITS WINDY. Kept asking myself if I was in the right continent to begin with. What I love though is that its not gloomy at all (if it was I wouldn't even have the will to get out of bed because snuggle weather is awesome). I've already told my friends that there's a very slim chance of us surviving in the Alaskan Alps, if we ever fancy traveling there one day, with all our excess luggage, and dang would I work my Spirit Hood Hat there, which is why I never considered getting one in Husky (Leopard 's my baby! Huzzah). I don't want to end up as dinner to those adorable bebe dogs. There are no Leopards in Alaska, are there? (No, but there are SNOW LEOPARDS huuu).

Speaking of which - ever since Lance told me about them hoodies back in 2010, I've been dreaming, dreaming, dreaming of having one. God has blessed me with a special gift that is in plastic form and does all sorts of magic for your inner Rebecca Bloomwood (my Rebecca Bloomwood isn't very shy to come out which blows. Now if we reference this to Charlotte York it would totally have a different meaning).

Meet the creators of this amazing baby - Marley, Chase and Alexander

I love that the hats are made out of faux fur, and in fact, some of the proceeds go to help a non-profit organization for animals. If money wasn't such a big deal, I'd purchase them in every type so I can do my part to helping save each one.

And yes I'm getting a hat soon. I wasn't even supposed to work on this blog until I get my hat (and tee, but that's from a different store), couldn't wait any longer though so I'll just change my blog header later, once Lance ships it to me for free ahemhintahem. I surely wouldn't be able to resist wearing it around. Maybe even at work.

What if I wore it out? In this continent? Ha! I'ma be a tribe member, I am.

But I hope we could get the heater to work soon. There is no way I'd shower with ice cold water for another week. Can't even stand another day! If I wanted icey water I would've filled the tub in ice cubes. No, Sir.

And then I'm clearing my throat

What I'm not good at, is speaking in front of a huge crowd. No, crowd. Crowd. Because as far as I'm concerned, three is a crowd. LOLJK.

So I kept asking myself why it was so hard for me to start writing my first entry. I've been back-reading entries I posted in 2003 and couldn't help but feel a wee bit nostalgic and grateful that I was able to document all that and have something to go back to, as a reminder of the girl that I have grown from.

Truth be told, I was trying to keep up with the times and trends of blogging and sort of forgot what made me so passionate about writing. I kept telling myself that outfit posts are quite challenging to do, especially now that I'm working. I barely even have time to focus on typing an entry without worrying about the laundry, and how messy the house is.

I'm not competing against anyone, neither am I to take their spotlight. They've got their thing going on, I've got mine. I'm in a country where I can't take photos outside to show my style (the black cloaks never stopped me from dressing up though), and I have to live with that. I'm not one to complain about the life I live at the moment. God has blessed me with such a beautiful one and I am taking my time. The day will come when I'll have all the freedom for that.

To cut it short, yes - my blog may be a bit boring, but this is just me looking at it from your possible perspective. Its a different story for me, because I'm primarily doing this for myself, and whatever I could get out of it. I have dreams too you know? And if this blog will help me get to that point, then I'm willing. Now that I laid all that down...

I've merged all my blogs in the past, from the very first one I owned 8 years ago, which is why my archives date back to 2003. And its one of my favorite features because I can time travel back to my first year in college. Too cool. You should've seen the look on my face when the thought of merging all my blogs together dawned on me. It was awesome.

Back then, it was really challenging to fix my template. I'd ask help from George and Lance and Jay. I wanted to have pages, which is why having them now makes me feel all smug and stuff. They are yet to be updated.

Also, like I mentioned, I'm trying to make a business out of this, just in case anyone's interested, which is why I came up with a "Contact" page.

I've also made a special Facebook page for my site, which you can find on my sidebar. Please click on LIKE if you're on Facebook!

Another additional feature is my "Porfolio" page (which I'll also be updating), where I can ahemshowcaseahem stuff I've done and other things I'm capable of doing.

I'm a bit bothered with my labels for some reason so I'm going to work on that as well.

Since I'm currently in the office and can barely see my table due to the pile of paperwork I've got in front of me, I'll go do what I'm paid to do and I hope you like the new site!

God Bless!

Eccentricleartiste's Figure Styling Feature

Whenever a friend features me, I can't help but cry a little because its too overwhelming and I honestly can't believe that someone like me would end up in their blogs. This one, like the others, was uniquely written, and it definitely hit home! It was motivating for me to read, because it made me realize that even if I'm miles away, I just have to keep up and keep going with reaching my dreams. If I've got people like Jariss, like you guys, who appreciate me in spite of my flaws and lack of blog entries, then what more when I really put my heart into doing what I do.

Read the rest of the feature here!

My good friend Jariss featured me last week. Her blog, EccentricleArtiste, features various topics on Fashion and Trends, locally and internationally which makes it a real interesting read. She obviously patronizes what Filipino Fashionistas can call their own (actually, Jariss is one of the girls I'm featuring in my blog as well, but don't hold your breath!)

What I love about her is that she constantly improves and adds on new categories every now and then. Talk about motivation! Whenever I visit her blog, I can't help but feel inspired to be consistent with my blog (which I fail to do).

You have to visit EccentricleArtiste / Fashion Firewoman if you want to keep in touch with the latest trends. And of course, coming from a proud fellow-Filipina, I don't see why we won't love her articles! Log on your Tumblr page and follow her now!

God bless you all. I love you, Jariss!

Spacing Out

I recently found out about this album and finally had the time to download it yesterday. Spaced Out was released with covers of sorts from both Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner, both popularized by the Star Trek series and have released separate albums. Having listened to most tracks, I can define it in two words : PURE WIN.

My favorites are definitely Nimoy's HIGHLY ILLOGICAL and HAMLET. Shatner was awesome too except that I wasn't able to pay too much attention to his tracks (heard some of it already though), out of sheer amazement towards the former.

"...Take the case of modern man
He works all his life gives it all he can Saves all his money works overtime Pinches every penny banks every dime All he can think about is money but you know That he can't take it with him where he's going to go Now I find that fascinatingly illogical..."

Makes sense now, doesn't it? Although the album has its pffft tracks, I wonder how anyone won't be awed, regardless.

I can't find a video of Hamlet so I was sort of lead on to the Klingon version of Hamlet, which tickled my fancy.

I'm trying to learn how to speak Klingon, I really am! Its only recently that I discovered my fascination with the Star Trek franchise, my friend Jaybs has been pushing me to watch all the installments but I have failed.

My addiction to Sheldon Cooper however is the primary source of this triggery. Whatever that means.

Awesome, ey?

I even downloaded the Klingon Dictionary, but of course, like the stash of e-books loaded in my HD I haven't even virtually turned a single page. The latest e-book I read is Zombies Vs. Unicorns (AND ITS AWESOME).

I'm thinking of making Nimoy's Hamlet as my message alert tone. Imagine waking up to someone's text in the middle of the night. Its the same as when Leonard (Hofstadter) had Joker's laugh for his ring tone, ha!

I think that should be one of my catchphrases starting today : "NOW I FIND THAT HIGHLY...ILLOGICAL." No, its not.

Curse of the Black Pearl

(Photo via )

Since I saw the swatch of Chanel's Black Pearl a few weeks ago, I was drooling all over. Went to several Chanel outlets (I wouldn't dare go in the Chanel Boutique because I value my life too much) these past few days, so far I still find that lusty lusty Particuliere standing out among the other shades, which I was also (as usual) tempted to get, but decided to wait for Black Pearl instead.

Who am I kidding, I'd like to stock up on as much Chanel Nail Lacquers as much as I can. I'm probably getting Particuliere too. Ha.

This entry's title sounds like a Pirates of the Caribbean installment.

Hello, Goodbye

Its the second day of a New Year (of course I meant to edit this and type "fourth" instead of "second", meh). Did I start it right? Yeah, you can say that I did. How was my 2010? Bittersweet. Am I writing about it? No. I video blogged about it and I'm on the process of publishing it as soon as I add my special ingredient.

2011 seems like an awesomely challenging year. Its slowly starting to sink in, I'm 24. I'm married and I'm bound to have children in a few years. To be honest, its quite a harsh wake-up call. Things won't be the same when we have kids. They will be our priority. Have I started to save for my unborn children, who I've already prepared names for? Have I started to put money aside for the unit that we'd be moving in to when we settle back home? ... Can I not answer?

I came up with the idea of making a collage out of the things I want to accomplish and post it on my wall beside my office table. Because usually this is where the evil shopaholic monster possesses me at 5:00 P.M. on pay day (sometimes, even before - which blows). Sadly, I am quite the superficial girl to need a physical reminder of what's important. Somehow my brain cannot process what my Mom tried to inject millions and millions of times - the importance of knowing my priorities. And I don't want to have to learn the hard way. No Sir.

I've seen photos of relatives who have honestly made it in the US/UK and apart from being really proud of them, I feel like I've just found more inspirations in the family to be able to be "there", too. I certainly am blessed to have a crackload of stuff in my closet but I can't make a tent out of them to provide shelter for my children (yes, I own a place but do you see the metaphor?).

So, 2010. You'd probably notice in the vlog entry I'll be posting that I barely talked about and showed emotion (I tried, but I fell asleep after watching myself, nothing beats writing about it I guess, vlogging ain't for that), so maybe I can be the usual sentimental, melodramatic girl that I really am?

To be honest,I am mostly thankful for the restoration of my relationship with God. Without Him, I wouldn't be the person that I am today, in all aspects. Sure, there are so many things to work on, but how I managed to stay sane, I have no idea how. People see me smile and laugh and they wonder how, I always point up and say, "because of God". Which is true.

I don't need to write and boast about these things. But I just wanna say how amazing our God is. It is beyond words.

And I just feel the need to mention this : I have big plans for my blog. As usual, not anytime soon, but expect these changes :

1.) Template / Design / Widgets
2.) Domain
3.) Header

Although I think that this will all depend on my header, first. Don't really feel like changing anything until my header changes. I've already doodled it in my journal. But I need to get my hands on that wildfox tee and spirit hood hat first. Priorities, priorities. At least I'd get this done within the year.

As for my domain name, as much as I love 8090/Lovechild, I'm thinking about switching it to something more...catchy. As long as it has the word "CHILD" (yes, I've tried Lovechild and Wildchild alone but they're all taken). I'm thinking about going a little more Lakhota on your buns but I'm feeling my other option more. I don't want to be a pretentious little brat and go with something that makes you think "fashion" because my blog isn't solely based on fashion. I'd still use 8090/Lovechild somehow.

Dang, this means I have to edit widgets my blog is associated with. FUDGINGFOCCACIA! ()&#%@*(&%

Ack, pray for me.

So, from our humble ministry to you, we wish you a BLESSED NEW YEAR!

I love you, my dearest blogreaderfriends. God bless us all, TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!
